I have always enjoyed these type of pictures because of their simplicity.  I hope to do more soon!

Old Romance

Today, I wanted to try something different while taking pictures.   I wanted to use both soft and hard lines in a photo.

My mom put together this arrangement of dried roses and flowers together years ago.  It’s a different arrangement, but one that is pleasing to the eye.

When I redecorated our home, after Christmas, I placed an old mirror we’ve had for years, on the wall, next to this arrangement.  The softness of the arrangement next to the hard lines of this elegant mirror made this picture perfect.

“If This Tree Could Talk”

Here is another photo taken on Spring Valley Rd.  This tree is found in the cemetery of an old church.  What stories it could tell!!

Walk Me Home

After an eventful Wednesday, in Salem, I decided to drive home on one of my most favorite country roads.  Spring Valley Road is such a beautiful drive!  You have a beautiful view of the countryside, old barns, an old church that is still in use, tree orchards, etc.  This is the road where I took the photo of the schoolhouse, which you can see when you enter my blog, and also in my etsy shop.

On this road, I found many a picture to take…and even more beautiful scenes that I have yet to capture.

Here is my newest addition to my etsy shop:

Welcome Spring!

Spring has FINALLY come to the northwest…well, for a few days, that is.

With this fine weather, my friend and I planned to go have a photo shoot with the countryside on Monday.  But it turned out she needed to go to work that day.  So, I went ahead without her.

It was a beautiful drive, but yet I just couldn’t find any good shots.  There were a few here and there, but my creative juices were not flowing.

The next beautiful day I wasn’t planning anything but to just stay home and clean.  Well, I needed a break from that…so I grabbed my camera and walked out in my yard.  Guess what I found….

…and much more great shots like this!

It’s amazing how you can find great shots without going anywhere new or spectacular, but yet find it in the place you live and love.

joyful spirit photography

HPIM1288 watermark click on photograph to view on my etsy shop

Welcome to my photography blog!  I wanted to start this blog to share my journey as I continue to learn about photography, and to post photographs that I put in my etsy shop.

Seasoned photographer, or not; my goal in taking pictures is to capture pure beauty in nature and in old architecture.  And in doing so, I want to honor and delight God in my hobby.

I chose “joyful spirit photography” due to the meaning of my name.  Heather means “joyful spirit”, and that is how I want to live my life.  It is why I chose one of my favorite passages to represent who I am in Christ, and what He wants me to do in my life…and even in this hobby of mine.

Be JOYFUL always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Thank you for visiting, and come again as I share my photography adventures with you!
